Meet Me

I am Ashlyn, a self-taught artist from Kroonstad, Free State, with a deep love for portraiture and visual storytelling. 

I have been creating art for as long as I can remember, and began intentionally developing my painting practice over eight years ago.

I have always been driven by the challenge of capturing a moment beyond the way it looks and moreso for the way that it feels.

 

In 2020, I was given the opportunity to create live, prophetic paintings during church services which was an experience that strengthened my ability to paint in real time and deepened my love for the craft. Painting live taught me presence, to trust my intuition and to trust the process. These skills now form the foundation of my live wedding work.

My artistic journey has included a wide range of mediums, from oil pastels and soft pastels to watercolour, gouache, and charcoal, before eventually leading me to acrylic and, ultimately, oil painting which I prefer for its richness and longevity. 

By painting live on your wedding day, I translate a moment that would've been otherwise fleeting into an artwork that is tangible. Each painting is created with the intention for it to become a heirloom that will forever serve as a beautiful reminder of your special day.
